Family Assistance: My Kite Will Fly provides support for your family in more ways than one

The My Kite Will Fly program has been designed for children aged 3-12 years old whose families are experiencing some sort of trauma.

Art can help children to express themselves when they are overwhelmed with feelings that are difficult to understand or express. The My Kite Will Fly program aims to give young children a voice to communicate their unspeakable thoughts and feelings.

The program will provide support to families going through difficult times by engaging them both online and in real life through:

  • Educating children about a parent's diagnosis and to enhance the child's understanding about what cancer is and how it is treated
  • Providing parents with a tool to support them and their children along the course that cancer as a life-threatening illness often takes
  • Encouraging communication between parents and children about issues that may seem too big to speak of and providing professionals with guidelines to help them support families during such difficult times
  • Connecting families to other support services to assist them to meet their other non-medical needs
